May 16th is shaping up to be a very busy day in Ida. The Ida Civic Club will once again be hosting the Trash, Treasure and Trinket Village. It is so much more than just a craft/vendor show. There will be something for everyone at this event. New stuff, old stuff, crafts, antiques just about anything that you can imagine will be available. PICKERS are Welcome. This is indeed my kind of event… where else can you go to find trash as well as treasures all in the same place? And I am sure there will be a trinket there too just for you.

The Friends of the Ida Library will once again be hosting their Huge Book Sale. If you have never been to this it really is UNBELIEVABLE! I can think of no other word to describe it.. They have a HUGE tent and inside are all kinds of books. Books on just about any topic you can image. Not only that… but they are put out in sections for you to view. You can actually find what is of interest to YOU!….. What is the price of the books…? What are they worth to you? The Friends group simply asks you for a donation…. keep in mind this group does many thing for not only the Library itself but also for the community… Please be generous with your donation so the group is able to keep their good work growing.

We are so pleased that the Ida Fireman’s Association will once again be having their chicken broil. They will be serving from Noon – 6:00 pm or until SOLD OUT.  The Firemen will also be making reflective house number signs the day of the event. You can pre-order if you would like and pick up the day of the event or sooner. Click Here for an order form. Everyone needs one of these signs…. Help them find you in case of an emergency.

The Ida Civic Club is promoting planting milkweed seeds to help the Monarch Butterflies….. You can read more about the project and how you can help the monarch butterflies by clicking here. Milkweed seeds will be available at Ida Veterinary Clinic and at Old County Treasures….Remember.. If you plant them they will come.

Returning this year will be the Great Black Swamp Frogs Base Ball Club of Sylvania, Ohio. They will play an 1860s-era “base ball match” against the Early Riser Base Ball Club of Detroit. This match will start at 12:00 NOON in the open field next to the ball diamonds.

These teams  play a Civil War Era base ball match using rules codified in 1860. In that time, base ball was an amateur sport played by respectable gentlemen. The game that will be played is fundamentally the same as baseball today; however, there are differences in rules, strategies and equipment, which are portrayed as accurately as possible. For matches, the umpire and players wear authentic period attire.

T.H.A.N.K.S. inc is getting the pavilion ready to go again this year for their famous Rummage Sale. They always do a great job at collecting very unique and unusual items for their sale. They will also have food and beverages available.

Ida Friends of the Library will be organizing the community wide garage sales. This is a project that our Librarian, Suzanne takes such great care in putting together for the garage sale enthusiast. She will have a “Map” of all of the garage sales that are being held throughout the community on this day. The “Maps” will be available for pickup at the Ida Library or viewed online about a week before the event.
